Tell me about yourself.

I live in a small town in Kentucky. I have 3 wonderful daughters (most of the time) 2 teenagers and a 2 ½ year old. Its like having 2 families sometimes. I change gears a lot. I also work part-time for the public library. Hence the name Sparetime. I don’t have much free time, but I enjoy crafting so much, it is my release.

What do you make? What are your favorite materials to work with? What is your favorite color?

I make all sorts of crafts, I am always looking for new items to make. I love fabric. A fabric store is like a bakery, I want one of everything. My favorite color is green, any shade of it, I don’t know why, but if its comes in green that will be what I want.

Where can people purchase your goods?

I just started selling Etsy, the first of this year, so I’m still relatively new. I have been selling at local craft shows and bazaars, for several years.

what is your favorite thing you have ever created?

I love my Etui’ boxes. I enjoy picking the color combinations. I found this pattern in a very old book that was about to be discarded. And after several (a lot) attempts and some tweaking, I finally got it the way I wanted it.

What is the worst thing you have ever created?

A bird Costume for my neighbors daughter. It was absolutely the ugliest thing I have every made. She loved it!

What inspires you to create?

I ’m one of those people who have to be doing at least 2 or 3 things at one time. So I’m always looking for new things to try. I might have seen it in the store, on in a book or magazine. Or I may see some fabric that I just gotta have, so I will find something to do with it.

What is your favorite film/music/book/artist?

Love the movie Titanic and Beauty and the Beast. I live in Kentucky so its country music. Toby Keith!!!!. Absolutely love James Patterson’s books.

Who is the most important person in your life?

Family, they may drive me crazy sometimes, but I love them all to death.

Who is your favorite DiY designer?

I don’t believe I can pick a favorite. I have seen such wonderful items. Awesome jewelry, wonderful artwork and drawings. Clothing and purses, I just couldn’t pick just one. I can not get over the talent of some of these designers, and I am amazed at the variety.

Do you have any advice for other DiY designers?

Keep doing what your doing and enjoy doing it. Smile everyday, because it shows in your work.
