I have found that using a gallon milk jug works wonders for jewelry detail. You just need to cut the top and bottom off, lay your jewelry on a colorful background and place the milk jug on top. Place at least 2 lamps shining into the sides and take photos from the top.

What a great tip, we don't have gallons in Australia but I'm guessing a gallon= 4 litres. I think we only have 3 litre bottles but I could give it a try. Thanks
Thanks for the tip. No matter what I do I can't get a decent picture. I've tried for months with not much success. I bought a light tent, tried to take pictures outside with and without the tent, playing with the flash, macro icon, etc. Hubby even bought me a new camera for my bday. I have more items that I would love to upload to etsy because they are beautiful (not the quirky items I have up now) but just can't get the pics right.
I'll try this tip and let you know how I make out.
