While I love digital cameras because you can just plug them into the computer and go, I can't help but wonder if I'm the only one that misses the clarity of a good old film SLR. It's a toss up really; I love my Pentax digital, but my Canon EOS Rebel 2000 has been through a lot with me, including moshpits and sweaty lead singers.

So what is your preferance when it comes to photography? Digital or film?

I'm all about the film cameras for everything except:

1)Travel pics (I pack light and take tons of pics so film is way too bulky!)

2)listing on Etsy (plug and go is the way to go here, so quick!)

3)taking candid pics of my cat apollo (the sound of a shutter scares him)

I don't think you can beat the quality if a well black and white pic done with traditional film! I love the retro feel.

Plus: I love the surprise of not knowing until the film is developed

I'm really stuck; I agree with you on all your points! ^-^ It depends on the photography, especially traveling you don't want to carry a big camera with you. That's my feeling at shows too, but a digital just doesn't seem to capture the artists the way I want them to be captured; with my SLR everything seems to come out brighter, and you don't have to adjust the light a billion times, haha.

I couldn't even agree more! something about digitals just doesn't capture the feeling of the moment. Of course, it could all be in my head...many things are.

No, you're totally right! I'll use some quick examples of my work as a band photographer. I never thought an SLR would hold up to the high energy of the boys so I got 400 speed film; no horrible lines, no weird colours, just crisp picture.

With the SLR. *Love!*

Same venue, same boy, same show: Pentax camera (excuse his face)

Everything just seems more vibrant!

OK, I've been comparing the pics and I think I've figured it out! the SLR pic is magical, it makes the venue, guy, guitar, everything seem almost unreal they are so clear and perfectly captured. The digital is almost too good. It's just like standing right there, you can see the lights, stage, everything in the background...it's almost too good (plus it's a little blurry, doesn't help)!

I have two more readily available in my photobucket, and others that will be posted eventually because they are in transit here from the boys house all on discs. I'll link you to a couple more. Smile

And here are some random "I still love my digital camera" ones ^-^

Not all of them have my 'Lifeless' tribal bat sig.. my HP decided it hated life and doesn't want to work anymore so I have to transfer all my files to my laptop. I hate technology!

You'll be the first to see all the new uploaded ones!
My fiance is a photographer too and he has a digital SLR, best of both worlds, and he said I can show some of his stuff off when I get it on the computer; I wish he'd sell because he's so damn good at what he does.
