Tell me about yourself.

Well, I live in the New England area. Im nocturnal and stay up till like 5am working, wake up around one or two in the afternoon, and literally work all the time. (for right now anyway). I actually started working from home by opening an Ebay store in 2002. I sell designer clothing there. I was a makeup artist prior to this but was diagnosed with epilepsy and couldnt drive for around 9 months so i needed income, and neccesity is the mother of all invention asss they say. so i worked from ebay and eventually started selling my designs there. and because they became popular, i opened http://vennicaprice.com i also sell my label at the black flamingo in laguna beach, CA. im also a singer, and sing in boston with a friend who plays the guitar.

What do you make? What are your favorite materials to work with?What is your favorite color?

I make couture clothing for women right now (i will be venturing into mens soon). i was working with a lot of stretchy material because i was not huge on zippers but have lately been giving a go at using them in some of my pieces and i like silky fabric to make a certain style dress i make for the store I sell my label at in california. but thermal is my most used fabric on a piece that i am getting patented actually! favorite color is black. i know, no fun, but it always has been

what is your favorite thing you have ever created?

my favorite thing i have ever created is this dress:

i made it for new years this year and it fit me like a DREAM. i felt really sexy and confident in it a replica of it is up for sale in my Etsy store.

What is the worst thing you have ever created?

i actually have never settled on making a bad item, so i always like what i make im a super perfectionist when it comes to clothing, so if i dont like something as its coming out i will change it completely and work on it for hours until i love it.

What inspires you to create?

fashion inspires me to create. when i see runway shows, or people walking by with something fabulous or just shopping and seeing clothes in stores makes me want to go home and start makin clothes.

What is your favorite film/music/book/artist?

favorite movie is the notebook, i read the book when i was in gradeschool and LOVED it. then i saw the movie when it came out, not realizing it was based on the book i had read (when i read the book i hadnt paid attention to the name) and i was like ooooohhhmygod same movie as the book! and cried my face off music is my life as well, so i like it all. right now im very into dave barnes, marc broussard, jonny lange, good stuff

Who is the most important person in your life?

most important person is my life is my mom. shes wonderful and lets me take over her diningroom with my "office", fabric everywhere sewing machines, new clothes, etc.

Who is your favorite DiY designer?

im LOOVVING veruka dolls land the dolls are friggen adooorable!!

Do you have any advice for other DiY designers?

youre not always going to make huge money on the items you first put out
but give it some time and put a lot of effort into promoting yourself, and things will start to fall into place. always make items with as much passion as you would into a boyfriend or girlfriend as well. the more serious and the more fun you have with making clothes, the better they come out Smile
