Make your own custom tri-fold wallet!OK, here are the directions for making your own awesome tri-fold wallet:
pattern for wallet (tri-fold):
Supplies
1) clear vinyl (you can get it from any fabric store. Many also carry super cool color tinted clear vinyl!)
2) sewing machine, thread (I like using colored thread that accents the wallet)
3)2 snaps (and a snap fastener. If you don't already have one you can usually buy packs of snaps that include a snap fastener that you use with a hammer)
4) the pattern
5) a picture or piece of fabric the same size as pattern piece A.
Directions
1) print the pattern out in the size needed to make a wallet (if you live in the U.S. remember foreign currency is a bit larger than U.S. currency). Cut the pattern out. Do NOT cut out the light pink or gray sections from piece A as these are there ONLY to show where pieces B & C and the snaps will be placed.
2) out of the vinyl cut 3 A's, 2 B's and 1 C. Cut your picture or fabric into pattern piece A size.
3) take your pic or fabric and sandwich it between 2 pieces of size A vinyl. Sew all the way around the edges (this will become the outside of your wallet)
4)looking at the piece you just created with the outside (picture showing) of the wallet facing you attach the bottom half of the snaps in the position indicated on the pattern. The functional snap part should be on the same side as the right side of your fabric or picture (the outside of the wallet).
5) sew your 2 B's and 1 C on the remaining piece of pattern size A vinyl in the gray spots indicated (the b's on the outsides and the C in the middle). Only sew around 3 sides. Do not sew the "top" side.
6) sew the outside (with snaps and pic) and the inside (with pieces B and C attached) together by sewing around 3 sides (do not sew the "top"side)
7) attach the top of the snaps through all layers in the location indecated on the pattern with the functional snap part on the "inside" of the wallet.
fold in 3 and 'voila' perfectly cute custom tri-fold wallet!
tip: when sewing vinyl put a piece of tissure paper between the presser foot and the vinyl to avoid snags. You can tear the tissure paper off when your done without ruining your project if you tear pulling to the sides (Not up and away from the project)
Pictures of the finished project are on their way!
